Google’s Bard has been reborn as Gemini. Google has released Gemini Advanced, which features Google’s largest AI model, Gemini Ultra, which was introduced in the Google Gemini announcement in December.

In May last year, Google Bard released, and it was expected that a strong competitor to ChatGPT would emerge, but it didn’t make as much of a name for itself as expected, but it seems that it is finally starting to fight back with Gemini. To do this, it seems that it has boldly abandoned the Bard brand and chose to be born as Gemini.

Google Gemini Advanced launch and paid plans

Gemini Advanced with Gemini Ultra is now available in more than 150 countries and regions. However, it is currently only available in English and will be expanded to various languages, including Japan and Korean, in the future.

However, like ChatGPT Plus, Gemini Advanced adopts a paid billing model and is available for $20 per month as part of the Google One AI Premium plan (annual plan is available separately), and is currently running a promotion where you can use it for free for two months when you sign up for the plan. If you sign up for the $20 paid model, you’ll also get 2TB of Google One storage.

In addition, Google One AI premium subscribers will soon be able to use Gemini in Gmail, Google Docs, and more.

Expanding user accessibility with the launch of the Gemini app

To make it easier for users to experience Gemini and Gemini Advance on their smartphones, we’re also announcing updates to the Gemini app for Android and the Google app on iOS. On Android devices, after downloading the app, users can activate Gemini by long-pressing the home or power button, and it combines the useful features of the existing Google Assistant to perform a wider range of tasks.

In the case of ChatGPT, the company expanded its accessibility to users by releasing an app, and Google could be taking the same approach. However, in the case of Gemini, the free app allows users to upload photos and more, making it easier to experience the multimodal features of Gemini on a smartphone.

For iOS devices, Gemini is now available directly through the Google app. Starting today, it’s available in English in the US, and next week in Korean and Japanese. More regions and languages will follow.
